~ GARMENTS FROM
LEFTOVERS Daryl
Lancaster
Daryl
has been experimenting
with scraps
of hand-woven
fabric. We all
have them and
can’t
bear to throw
them away. Innovative
ways of piecing,
reassembling,
and reusing hand-woven
leftovers are
demonstrated.
Participants will
bring their sewing
machines and some
scraps and have
some fun! Then
comes the best
part, using Daryl’s
basic vest pattern
custom fitted
to you, spend
the rest of the
workshop assembling
a vest from leftover
parts. Anything
goes here, it’s
a chance to
get really carried
away since all
you have to
lose are a few

~ SPINNING NOVELTY
YARNS Judith
MacKenzie McCuin
Boucle,
cables, gimps
and Turkish
knots, encasement,
frosted, beaded,
and feathered.
If you think
that "two-ply
fine" or
the “homespun” look
is what hand spinning
is all about,
this is the class
for you. It’s
all about making
yarns that are
structurally strong
but have decidedly
unusual surfaces.
We’ll also
look at yarns
with unusual purposes
(haven’t
you always wanted
to make a goat-hair
camel’s
nose ring?) and
we’ll
investigate
non-typical
spinning materials.
Spinning wheel
required.

$5.00 Level: Students
should be able
